The states first newspaper, the Edmond Sun was established in July of 1889 and by the 1890 census 394 residents called Edmond home.

Today Edmond spans approximately 87.9 miles and according to the 2012 census it has 81,405 residents. The three largest segments of the population in Edmond are Caucasian Americans at 86.85 %, African American at 4.04% and those of Asian ancestry making up 3.26% of the total.
